Some of My Online Shopping Habits (Part 1) ---Ebates Explained

Confession:  I online shop more than anything.  Because I do so, it was best that I signed up for Amazon Prime and Club O Rewards with Overstock.com to save money because I knew that if I hadn't, I would have been wasting money on shipping/handling. 

BEFORE I even dare to log in to Amazon, Overstock or wherever else,  I go to Ebates first.  YES!  That is a must.  If you are wondering what Ebates is, it is a site (they have an app too) where you go to the online stores that you'd normally shop, through the Ebates site or app.  The store pays Ebates a commission because you went through their site/app, and Ebates share a percentage of that commission with you. 

For example:  I want to go to Macys.com to get a blouse.  Instead of going directly to Macys.com, I go to Ebates.com instead, type and search "Macy's" in Ebates search bar, then click on the Macy's button.  A message would appear "Congratulations, you are on your way to 10% cash back" and then boom, you're on Macy's website.  When you check out, use your Macy's star rewards for additional savings (sign up for that too, if you're not already), check out and when your order is received by Macy's, Ebates should notify you  that you will be getting 10% back and give you the total. 

You will receive Your "Big Fat Check" either in the mail or Paypal at the end of the quarter, from all of your store purchases that you made online via Ebates in that quarter.  Some stores (like Bath and Body Works) allow you to use Ebates for in-person transactions too. 

Ebates also has a "Refer a Friend" feature (that's where you can really make your "big fat check" grow).  If you refer friends to use your unique link to sign up for Ebates, not only will your friend get $10 cash back on their first purchase but YOU will get $25 for referring them.
